By the time you read this, the WhiteHouse.gov petition to make Obama, Biden, and their families safer by creating a gun-free zone around them will have earned the 25,000 signatures required to earn a response from an Official White House Policy Wonk. It’s just 320 shy as I write this Wednesday night. Good thing, too, because the WH has just announced that, henceforth, it’ll take 100,000 signatures in 30 days for a petition to be worth bothering with. Look, I know just as well as you do that all this petitioning is useless. Of course it is. Except for one…

Government evils — but I repeat myself
Via Joel: A WhiteHouse.gov petition to make the president and his family safer by establishing a gun-free zone around them. It’s close to reaching the 25,000-signature threshhold that’s supposed to guarantee a response from a “policy expert” chosen by WH staff. And it’s still getting hundreds of signatures even on this slow ‘Net day. That’ll be a response worth seeing …
Five facts on guns and violence. Inside the snakepit of ignorance that is Dianne Feinstein’s office. And DiFi’s gun policy. Three hundred cats. Not crazy. The thing that makes this article interesting is that it comes from Mother Jones and not Fox News. You go, Wyoming! Once again, a kingpin gets off lightly by snitching on his underlings. (H/T J.) Things that are more popular than Congress. 🙂
The part of me that still believes the civics lessons I learned in school wonders what Obama and cronies think they can accomplish with an executive order about firearms. Because of course, no EO restricting gun ownership or sales in any way would be constitutional. Not even remotely. The older, wiser, large part of me remembers that EOs have been used to tighten the noose around guns before. And, of course, used for even worse things. Ironically, our best hope is that they’ll go too far, too fast — and make the line in the sand very clear. Any thoughts…
Okay, she says, speaking metaphorically but with steely determination, dagger between teeth. That was a nice, long break. But now it’s time to raise the black flag and commence to slitting throats. —– I see discouragement all ’round. Certainty of economic doom. Fear that we’re about to lose our gun rights. Rumors of Obama preparing to grab a third term (rumors not eased by sudden cawing from the chattering classes that we should just dump that old Constitution thingie because it keeps the gummint from doing everything on its wish list*). Dread of the looming Obamacare regime. And on and…
Thanks for continuing to put up with the “lite” posting. Posting will probably be on-and-off all this week but should be back to normal by next Monday. —– Mark/Greylocke, the guy who brought us the Knoppix Thumb Drive preparedness document project, is now putting together a YouTube channel for survival/preparedness info. He’s inviting your contributions. If you have a knowledge or skill you want to share but don’t have the ability to edit your own video, he’ll even do that for you from your raw footage. —– I received my own KTD the other day via Scott’s ready-made drive business.…
Yes, it’s that time of year life politics again — time to consider that we might need to hide our Eeeevil Black Rifles, just like we did back in the Bad Old Clinton days. Yes, I know some of us are going to say, “Hide? I ain’t hidin’ nothin’! They can come and take my gun from my cold, dead hands — or better yet, they’re the ones who’ll end up cold and dead.” But we’re taking insurance here. Not the whole arsenal. Just an “ace in the hole” rifle. Or some high-cap magazines. Or an Eeeevil Black Pistol. Or…
Well, folks, this is it. Friday it’s all over. Zap. Kaput. This weary old Earth and all of us with it — gone. Even though I don’t believe a word of it, sometimes I think it couldn’t happen to a more deserving planet. And as to that lame, feel-good theory that the Earth isn’t really going blooey, but is just going to go through a tribulation, with the survivors (i.e. the people holding the theory) going to emerge full of peace, love, and enlightenment … yeah. You just tell me when peace, love, and enlightenment have ever lasted more than…
Today is Bill of Rights Day. It was a battle to get the BoR. It’s been a losing battle to keep it. But as long as its individualist principles live in us, it ain’t dead.
Via BW. —– I’m not sufficiently paranoid to believe things like the following. But that may be because I’m not sufficiently paranoid. An anonymous friend (who is not notably paranoid, either) writes: Bless me, Father, For I have sinned. The news I saw this AM was that the next global warming report by the UN IPCC had been leaked. Leaking blows their favorite tactic out of the water. SOP is to release a heavily politicized “summary” written by politicians and parasites for politicians and parasites. The press and .gov types lap it up. Three months later, the actual report written…
