Raising the black flag and …

Okay, she says, speaking metaphorically but with steely determination, dagger between teeth. That was a nice, long break. But now it’s time to raise the black flag and commence to slitting throats. —– I see discouragement all ’round. Certainty of economic doom. Fear that we’re about to lose our gun rights. Rumors of Obama preparing to grab a third term (rumors not eased by sudden cawing from the chattering classes that we should just dump that old Constitution thingie because it keeps the gummint from doing everything on its wish list*). Dread of the looming Obamacare regime. And on and…

And now for the bad news

I pledged two weeks of good news. Are the two weeks up yet? Because I’ve been trying to resist saying something about the real crap that’s going on. Joel called it “Feinstein’s … Intolerable Act.” (The originals via Wikipedia.) Just two days ago, Mas Ayoob frothed about it. He made excellent points about the “unintended” intended consequences of Feinstein’s proposal. Even Pravda, freavensake, knows we shouldn’t put up with such. And while it’s too early to panic (it’s always too early to panic; in any case, Feinstein’s evil dream isn’t likely to see daylight unless Rs and Ds connive in…

Monday links and musings

Thanks for continuing to put up with the “lite” posting. Posting will probably be on-and-off all this week but should be back to normal by next Monday. —– Mark/Greylocke, the guy who brought us the Knoppix Thumb Drive preparedness document project, is now putting together a YouTube channel for survival/preparedness info. He’s inviting your contributions. If you have a knowledge or skill you want to share but don’t have the ability to edit your own video, he’ll even do that for you from your raw footage. —– I received my own KTD the other day via Scott’s ready-made drive business.…

Holiday weekend good news roundup, part II, with dogs

Just for trivia fun: 12 letters that didn’t make it into the alphabet. (From yet another Friend O’ Blog with the initial J; there seems to be a conspiracy of them this weekend.) Rescuers deliver an early Christmas to a homeless man and his dog. Pit bull saves his human from an attacker. And although this isn’t strictly good news, it was surprising to me that S.W.A.T. put my latest article online and the Infamous — and in my experience, very nice — TJIC found it. Although it’s credited to me on the site, this was actually co-authored with Joel…

Project: How to hide a gun

Yes, it’s that time of year life politics again — time to consider that we might need to hide our Eeeevil Black Rifles, just like we did back in the Bad Old Clinton days. Yes, I know some of us are going to say, “Hide? I ain’t hidin’ nothin’! They can come and take my gun from my cold, dead hands — or better yet, they’re the ones who’ll end up cold and dead.” But we’re taking insurance here. Not the whole arsenal. Just an “ace in the hole” rifle. Or some high-cap magazines. Or an Eeeevil Black Pistol. Or…

Better sense on guns

It was a disgrace (though not a surprise) that so many allegedly pro-gun “leaders” made no case for firearms in the wake of the Newtown shooting. Worse, some didn’t merely turn tail, but turned coats. Given its history, it’s hard to be optimistic about the “meaningful contributions” the NRA promises for this Friday. But outside the swamp of Congress and K Street, the real freedomista voices never wavered. The WSJ printed a thoughtful David Kopel piece. (Kopel also mentions something about last week’s Clackamas Mall shooting I hadn’t read anywhere else — something that explains why the shooter offed himself…

More thoughts on the evil

Via BW. —– I’m not sufficiently paranoid to believe things like the following. But that may be because I’m not sufficiently paranoid. An anonymous friend (who is not notably paranoid, either) writes: Bless me, Father, For I have sinned. The news I saw this AM was that the next global warming report by the UN IPCC had been leaked. Leaking blows their favorite tactic out of the water. SOP is to release a heavily politicized “summary” written by politicians and parasites for politicians and parasites. The press and .gov types lap it up. Three months later, the actual report written…
