Yesterday I hit a rummage sale at one of the local churches. They were blasting out Christmas carols, which grates on my nerves. It’s not really that I’m Scroogey or that I hate Christmas music. I love Christmas and Christmas music — just not that handful of grindingly familiar tunes that assault hapless shoppers from all sides at this time of year. There’s plenty of incredible seasonal music (as gloriously noted in the comment thread from last year’s Christmas post) and some perhaps not so incredible but also not like having somebody run a drill through your ear. I sincerely doubt the world is ready for a complicated waterless toilet that has to be professionally serviced every six months. Bill and Melinda Gates disagree.

Thank you, New Yorker, for being realistic enough to recognize the hand of ISIS at Ohio State.

Will it really be “Bye Bye, Obamacare” followed by something much closer to market-based insurance? We can hope. Tom Price is one of only two Trump picks so far that don’t just seem like authoritarian business as usual.

Everything Trump says is nutty, except it wasn’t nutty when Hillary said it. (Except in this case it’s nutty — and dangerous — when either of them say it and my take on the issue is “ditto,ASM & Borepatch.”)

Well, here’s a big suprise. The (former) records supervisor for the Albuquerque cops has filed an affidavit stating that the notoriously violent and corrupt police department routinely altered or deleted videos of them shooting people.

Lots of media outlets are reporting on Jill Stein’s efforts to get recounts in the three “Hillary firewall” states that Trump won. How come so few are reporting on Stein’s comically scammish and ever-escalating claims about the amount of money she needs?
