Sasquatch country

I found this in the woods a few miles from my house & thought you might appreciate it. Lots of sasquatches around here, of course. Damn nuisances. Worse than porcupines. —– I’m also not feeling well and may take a few days off. I mentioned being exhausted after finishing the book, but I’m not perking up and am thinking there might be more to this than mere post-book blues.

Where are the monkeywrenchers when we need them? At least one traffic camera in New Orleans (and probably more) is giving speeding tickets to parked cars. (H/T PT)

Decisions, decisions. When faced with a school shooter, which is the better defense weapon? A bucket of rocks or an itty-bitty miniature baseball bat? (H/T M)

Of all the scurvy deeds F*c*b**k has attempted, this may be the worst: trying to get hospital records so they could de-anonymize them and match them to specific FB users. (Via M in comments)

But of course, FB’s troubles all result from excess idealism. We should never doubt their deep, deep commitment to our privacy.

If I’d have had time to post yesterday (sorry), this would have been at the top of my list: YouTube shows its colors (again) by banning a range of gun-related videos. (Tip o’ hat to DB and others)

Hillary Clinton, not Donald Trump or Cambridge Analytica, is gaslighting America.

Yeah, and Cambridge Analytica is a red herring. Money quote from the Obama camp: “Facebook was ‘very candid that they allowed us to do things they wouldn’t have allowed someone else to do because they were on our side.’”

Somebody needs to take this video of Hillary and score it with “Hail to the Chief” to remind us how we lucked out.

United Airlines does the mean and stupid again. This time a dog dies. (If even I know the rules about carrying dogs in the passenger cabin, how come a United flight attendant doesn’t?)

Sometimes conspiracy theories turn out to be true. Like the one that said Broward county cops were deliberately letting juveniles like the Parkland murderer off the hook.

The western world isn’t becoming less religious. The fanatics are still with us; they’ve just adopted a new belief called intersectionality. (And before that … state worship, of which intersectionality is just one of the craziest sects.)

The government killed free checking. Can Amazon restore it?
