Judge acquits Oregon man who stripped naked to protest TSA snoopery & gropery. (Tip o’ hat to PT) I always knew there was some reason I liked Lenovo. Aside from the fact that they make good computers, I mean. Wow. Just wow. Put yourself in this position: You inherit a multi-media work by a famous artist. However, because of the media used, the federal government forbids you to sell it. You’d go to prison if you did. So every appraiser says its value is $0. Ah, but not the IRS . They not only want millions in taxes, but the…

Chortle! Pro-gunners use gun buyback program to fund a shooting camp. (Tip o’ hat to PT.) Best explanation yet of the LIBOR scandal and its implications. Or are we suffering too much scandal fatigue to care? Here’s James Howard Kunstler’s take: “All this points to a dangerous new period of political history, a deadly Hobbesian scramble to evade the falling timber in a burning house as the rudiments of a worldwide social contract go up in flames.” Agree or not, the man writes like a demon. Yet another reason to avoid airports. I am not delusional enough. Talk about local…

Our politicians should be so partisan! (H/T MJR) Another reason to have a dog. Or at least let the kidlets play in the dirt. Sweet dog-and-his-boy story via MamaLiberty. Oy. Now the security state is worried about drone hijackings. Me, I figure some of my friends could make better uses of drones than the gummint ever will. Bacon or bagel for breakfast? Well, if you don’t count the nitrates … Wendy McElroy has a new book out. Sounds like a must-read. Small-scale farming. Not just cool and trendy — but creating a new profit model? Considering relocating offshore? Panama just…

Greenwald on Granderson

… and what Granderson’s embarrassingly horrible “don’t be nosy” rant says about the state of establishment journalism. Thanks to real journalist (though he probably wouldn’t call himself that), Jim Bovard for the link to the always-wonderful Glenn Greenwald. BTW, for those of you who might lose lunch if you have endure Granderson’s spewings again, be aware that Greenwald quotes nearly the whole “Don’t Be Nosy about Fast & Furious” monstrosity.

Show this to the innocents in your circle the next time one of them says if you obey the law you have nothing to fear. Whole family loses everything and goes to jail for … failure to speak Spanish when the feds use a Spanish speaker to frame them. Should we ban the word “trillion”? Naw. Good think piece, though. “Pry the Big Gulp from My Cold, Dead Fingers.” (H/T MJR) Sheldon Richman gives another good whack to David Brooks. “Why My Child Will Be Your Child’s Boss.” (Hint: because my child isn’t being turned into a risk-averse ninny.) “Don’t be nosy about Fast & Furious.”

Earlier this month, the Tubz were rattling over David Brooks’ plea for us all to know our places and respect our betters. And I was surely glad to see Radley Balko give Brooks and his Olde Establishment snobbery a good fisking. But me, I laughed. Brooks’ demand for obedience to Authoritah (any old Authoritah) was so pathetic, so obviously a dying cry from the Ancien Regime, that it delighted me. Yay! We’re out of control! Hooray! We point and snicker at the undersized dangly bits and bloated bellies of our naked emperors! That’s just how things ought to be. Today…

EPA requires refiners to add unobtanium (or at least unable-to-obtanium) to their products. (Via Wendy McElroy) How to make an herbal raw honey ointment to treat burns and wounds, provided you don’t mind slathering something that looks like gelled split pea soup on yourself or those you love. And speaking of those you love but (take it from me) others probably don’t, Malaysia Airlines, bless the marvelously shriveled little hearts of its executives, is experimenting with child-free sections on its aircraft. I’ve marveled at how, when I get on an airplane, I’m always seated in the crying-baby section. Or next…

On Fast & Furious

… and today’s new, highly Nixonian developments, Joel says it all. Executive privilege? Executive hooey. And what’s this about “withdrawing statements”? In legal proceedings, there’s a word for “withdrawing” your original statement and it isn’t a nice one. And “contempt”? I … we … never mind. Joel really does say it all.

(H/T/ JS) “A Biblical Threat to National Security.” And you plan to persuade Muslims how? that the U.S. military isn’t conducting a holy crusade against them? A handful of updates

On the anti-snitch book: Thanks to enthusiastic input, the anti-snitch book (booklet, really) is outlined, reality-checked, and ready for writing. Unforeseeable circumstances held the project up for three weeks, but we’re rolling again now. Thank you to all who’ve contributed so far and all who’ve offered future help. We’ve got some great material. On Sweetie the heeler Speaking of a little help from friends, Sweetie the heeler (now called Georgia) is doing well several weeks after her first immiticide treatment for heartworm. Her two foster “dads” dote on her and they and Sweetie are being very patient with the endless…
