A certain “victim of the American drug war” has wisely said goodbye in her own inimitable style to posting about her experiences as a snitch. Apparently, she’s been in this mood for a long, long time — though I suppose it’s “statist” of me to say so. Speaking of statist, a gifted Virginia schoolboy has been suspended for touching the American flag. We may live in a police state. But at least we can still drink our troubles away. Idaho is going to permit Five Wives vodka to be sold after all. But only after a famous lawyer threatened to…

Of course.
Definitely don’t agree with some of his politics. (That wall — OMG, think Berlin!) But gotta admit, this candidate’s got style:
Back from a good — but busy and tiring — weekend. As Dave says, the Mother Earth News Fair was even bigger and better than last year. My friend and I were there only a few hours in a very full weekend. Some links and a couple of funnies for you: Part one of a four-parter on how DC cops SWATTED a vet because they thought he might have some unregistered guns. (Several people sent me this one, thank you.) The FBI and ATF bust yet another harmless but idiotically careless victim. Check out the middle name on that young…
Celebrating the fighters who risk their lives for freedom and justice: Or not. —– Tip o’ hat to C^2 for the Battle of Athens video link, which I’ve been waiting months to use. That’s a fictionalized version, but not so far from the reality.
I think it’s a very good idea — if you’re going to elect someone at all — to throw your support behind a politician who’s already in prison. You know, save time convicting him later and all that. Besides, the guy has some pretty worthy positions.
Of course he deserved it. After all, “he was at the house, by his own admission, to get high with his friends.” This is a new low even for the atrocious DEA. Can you imagine it being done to you? Woman bites dog. (H/T MLS) Finally, an R politician with some guts and a smidge of conviction. Who isn’t Ron Paul, that is. “In Search of Aryan Hogs.” (Tip o’ hat to Mutti) You should read this even if you think you don’t give a damn about pigs in Michigan. If you use the ShowIP addon for Firefox, beware. Your…
Still deadlining, but feeling marginally more sane … Another attempt to destroy family farming. This time through bureaucratic good intentions child-safety stupidity. (Tip o’ hat to Dan over at Earthineer.) The NYTimes is stunned to discover clothing designed for concealed carry and other tool-bearing purposes. Rodney King, 20 years after. Oh. You mean that border fence was designed to keep Mexicans in??? The latest atrocity example of “just following procedures” at the TSA. Burger King — which has lately made a move toward upscaling the fast-food biz — is now going to cage-free eggs and pork. Good for BK. The…
Okay (she says rubbing hands and getting down to work). I may not be capable of brilliance at the moment. But hyperlinks? Those I can manage. xkcd on Skynet. Between the feds and utility companies who you gonna believe on the dangers of solar storms? Mac the Knife reminds me that my Neighbor from Hell could be a whole lot worse. Seriously? We need another spy agency??? Interesting: Ron Paul and the Lucifer Effect. (Tip o’ hat to PT.) So … how much ground do you intend to stand? And for the guys in the audience (with H/T to JS),…
Of course! This is exactly what the U.S. needs: a federal government that can do more. Now why didn’t we think of that? How exactly does a “civil servant” steal $30 million from a town of 12,000? Ten completely ridiculous (and not necessarily SFW) road signs. (Tip o’ hat to C^2.) SOPA is dead. Long live CISPA! Or maybe we should say SOPA is dead; will somebody fer cryin’ out loud put a stake in its heart and bury it at the crossroads??? Does that take-away-your-passport-if-you-haven’t-paid-your-taxes law that’s making its way through Congress also give the IRS the authority to…
I haven’t been in the market for either firearms or ammo (other than .22 plinking supplies) in quite a while. I know that the more hysterical reports about the government “ordering companies to stop selling ammo to ‘civilians’” are … well, just that. Hysterical. But in your experience, how tight is the market actually getting out there? Here’s a report from last week saying Ruger is so backlogged they’ve temporarily stopped taking orders. And even a casual look at local store shelves tells me ammo is in short supply. But that’s pretty anecdotal. What are you seeing and experiencing, if…
