  • Solar panels replaced paving on several roadways. For the environment and the climate and all, you know. Results were predictably underwhelming. Quite expensive, too.
  • Commander Zero, who knows whereof he speaks when it comes to preparedness, says Joel’s current experiment in living off an Augason Farms emergency food kit won’t end happily. I’m pretty sure Joel would have agreed from day one.
  • Speaking of which, Wired says that the science behind disaster preparedness kits is a disaster. They have suggestions some of us might not agree with, but the article’s interesting. 12 Comments

  • Happy Paratus! Commander Zero, who invented this holiday for preparedness, has celebration suggestions.
  • That mysterious observatory closure? They claim it’s because a janitor had kiddie porn on a computer. Hm.
  • Sheesh. No wonder Kavanaugh’s accuser can’t remember any details. Given the party-and-pickup culture of the pricey school she went to, it’s a wonder she can remember anything from her teens. 15 Comments

  • The prosecution of Cody Wilson for having sex with an underage prostitute absolutely reeks of being a setup by enforcers pissed off that they couldn’t get him any other way. (H/T MP)

An invitation to attend the scattering of Susan’s ashes Daniel Wiener, brother-in-law of Susan Callaway (the late MamaLiberty), posted this in comments: Sandi Wiener (Susan’s sister) and I will be in Newcastle [Wyoming] at the end of September (the 25th through the 27th), and during that time we’ll be spreading Susan’s ashes (probably on Wednesday, Sept. 26th). Susan was not much for ceremonies, and we won’t be having any big memorial service or anything. But if any of her friends would like to join us when we spread her ashes, let us know. (Email sandi-at-oldcrone-dot-com.) 2. Help Susan’s friend…

    Rosie pix

Okay, so those pictures of foster dog Rosie the other day weren’t exactly true-to-life images. Here are a couple photos of the real pup, taken by the rescue group’s foster-care coordinator, Christine, who is a talented photographer: Rosie close up: Rosie and friend: Those oughta cheer you up. 🙂 I have no clue what breed mix she is. Got any ideas? Clearly she’s predominantly a hound of some sort — a scent hound judging by the way she keeps her nose to the ground when we leash-walk. (No off-leash walks for this girl; no telling where or how far she’d…
